Think of this class as a rehearsal for your life. There will be projects, stakeholders, requirements, and deadlines. Don't forget about rewarding work! Let's aim high, roll up our sleeves, and climb this mountain.
Who's with me?
you have a good start for your page. I would defenitely change your search bar to a smaller one instead of the huge drop down. In addition I would probably not put in your address unless that is your place of business.
I do however, enjoy the layout of the different tabs (i.e. bio, gallery, services, etc.)
i enjoy the simplicity and feel of your home page, however, I don't think it is necessary to have the large search bar when you have an awesome icon with a drop down. Nice work though, I like where it is going.
The Experts have spoken. Also, the theme already has a super cool search widget that slides down when you click the magnifying glass. I would lose the one on the main page (understanding this is probably some placeholder stuff that would be replaced anyway).
Great start to your Bio. My feedback here is to simplify and add a little less personal information. Also, I would consider understating your military experience (it already kind of speaks for itself, so no need for superlatives). Oh, and if you carefully rework the Neon Sign bit, you could turn that from "I worked at a sign shop" to Chris Imhoof: Graphic Designer / Sign Artist. Great work so far!
Awesome start to your page. Right on the bat I'm intrigued and want to come back to your site. The ease of access between your different sections make it easy on the eyes. Your logo is also eye catching and memorable. Awesome job. Know that if you need a photographer to capture any of your work I'm here and willing to shoot.
Great start on your site! A couple pieces of feedback: 1. I would lose any references to school projects in the work examples. This detracts from the legitimacy you're trying to establish. Just say "Branding Design." The fact that it's a school project is irrelevant. 2. Maybe flip the order of Gallery and About. Lead with the work, then the fluff. Also, consider a more appropriate label other than Gallery? My Work maybe?
All in all, there are a few pieces that stand out because of the way you've presented them. Magazine piece, graphic design piece, in particular. I would look to continue that as the other pieces fall flat after the awesome sauce you led with. You might also do a quick brand workup of the vehicle wrap and present that as part of a brand project.
I like the squarespace layout you have chosen. I believe you have a strong shell that has a lot of potential. I enjoy the lightness behind it which leads my mind to see what type of work you do.
Please let me know if you ever need any photographs of your garments.
Great job so far! My feedback is to maybe spend some more time on the about me section. It feels like you could maybe get your point across with a bit less. I think there is alot of potential there to present yourself as a photographer who has seen the world and has a unique perspective. Maybe just smooth out the presentation a bit.
Great job so far. It's early, so theres not a lot to comment on here. Needs a logotype (ie, your name/what you do), obviously. I would consider renaming the portfolio section, and definitely rename the "Other" section. Motifs? Pattern? Shapes? Maybe motifs. Anything other than other. ;)

ReplyDeleteChris, you're not here today so we're rigging up a booby-trap to your usual terminal. Looking forward to seeing you later!
DeleteKidding. We're looking over each others' blogs and giving feedback. The others will chime in with their feedback.
